Caramelized Bamboo Plywood

Caramelized Bamboo Plywood (also known as carbonized or caramel bamboo plywood) is a dark, coffee-tone panel produced by controlled heat treatment of Moso bamboo before lamination. The color runs through the lamellas, so it won't sand away like surface stains. Through-color: the caramel tone is created in the bamboo, not painted-light sanding won't reveal a pale core.

Bamboo strips are kiln-dried, then thermo-treated to bring out the caramel tone by caramelizing natural sugars. After color equalization, the strips are aligned (horizontal, vertical or crossed) and hot-pressed with low-emission E0/E1 or WBP phenolic adhesives. Result: a deep, even brown that pairs well with black hardware and light stones, and stays consistent across batches we control.

Grain: Horizontal (bold stripes) / Vertical (fine lines) / Cross-laminated core for wide panels

Finishes: raw sanded 180–240 grit, UV clear or matte color, oil-wax finish

Edges: square, bevel, or round-over (R3–R10); laminated thick edge 36–40 mm for countertops

CNC Services: cut-to-size, drilling, dado/groove, sink/cooktop cut-outs, labeling

UV coating gives the best scratch/cleaning resistance. Oil-wax surfaces showcase depth and are easy to refresh; just re-oil when they look dry. For benches and kitchens, seal all faces and edges, especially cut-outs and undersides. Avoid standing water and direct heat.

Is the caramel color stable?
Yes. It's a heat-treated through-color; normal sanding will not expose a light core.

Which glue should I pick for kitchens?
E0/E1 works for most interiors; choose WBP phenolic for higher humidity or frequent cleaning.

Can you prefinish and cut to size?
Yes-UV/PU or oil-wax finishing, CNC nesting, drilling and labeling are available.

Will edges need edgeband?
Not necessary-the exposed bamboo edge is attractive; we can round/bevel if needed.

Can I mix horizontal and vertical grain in one container?
Yes, mixed loading is supported if the MOQ per spec is met.
